During an appearance on comedian Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show, George Clooney responded to Donald Trump by saying he would quit politics if the presidential candidate did too.
In July, Trump called Clooney a “fake movie actor” and demanded he stop playing politics after the entertainer published a letter calling on US President Joe Biden to forgo re-election to prevent a Republican victory.
“What does Clooney know about anything? … Clooney should quit politics and go back to television. Movies have never really worked for him!” Trump said at the time.

During an interview with Clooney, Kimmel read the Republican’s reaction, to which the actor replied: “I will do it if he does it. It’s a sacrifice I would make.”
In addition to his film career, Clooney is known for his political activism.
The actor supported Biden’s candidacy and organized a major fundraising event in Hollywood, but after the president’s disastrous performance in his debate with Trump last June, he asked him to withdraw.

When Biden announced in July that he was dropping his bid for re-election and making way for Vice President Kamala Harris as his running mate, Clooney praised the president’s decision and expressed his support for the new Democratic contender.
“Biden is saving democracy once again. We are all excited to do everything we can to support Vice President Harris in her historic mission,” he said.
