WASHINGTON – Ex president United States of America (USA) , George W. Bush criticized the withdrawal of U.S. and NATO forces from Afghanistan . He said, with this withdrawal, civilians were left “slaughtered” by the Taliban.

“Afghan women and girls will suffer unspeakable losses. This is a mistake. They will only be left to be slaughtered by these very brutal people and it breaks my heart,” Bush said.

“This is a mistake. They will only be left to be slaughtered by these very brutal people, and it breaks my heart,” he continued, as reported by Al Arabiya on Wednesday (14/7/2021).

Bush, who decided to send troops to Afghanistan in the fall 2001 after the September 11 attacks, said he believed German Chancellor Angela Merkel felt the same way.

“Merkel has brought class and dignity to a very important position and made a very difficult decision,” he said. Also read: US Expert Shows Image of 236 Chinese Ships Dispose of Human Dirt and Waste in SCS

US and NATO troops began withdrawing from Afghanistan in early May and will be fully withdrawn on September 11, some 20 years after they arrived in the war-torn country.

Most of the 2,500 US troops and 7,500 NATO troops currently in Afghanistan have left the country, “allowing” Afghan forces to battle the Taliban who appear determined to win militarily.

US President Joe Biden insisted that it was time for US involvement in the war to end and for Afghans to chart their own future. Also read: 25 American Religious and Political Figures Support Muhammad’s Mosque Call
