Greek football is shocked by the news that George Baldock of Panathinaikos was found dead on Wednesday night in the swimming pool of his home in Glyfada.
Baldock was searched for by his wife, who lives in England, but was unable to locate him. She then allegedly alerted a friend of the couple, who went to Baldock’s home.
No further details of the incident have been released at this time. The 31-year-old footballer of Panathinaikos and the Greek national team was born in England and has been international with the blue and white since 2022.
Last summer he transferred to Panathinaikos.
Baldock was born in Buckingham, England in 1993 and on his father’s side he had Greek roots so he became an international with our national team with which he competed 12 times.
He has played for Milton Kane Dons where he has made 107 appearances with two goals. In 2017, he was transferred to Sheffield United, where he made 219 appearances, 83 of which were in the Premier League, scoring six goals and providing 16 assists.
His last appearance was in last Sunday’s derby against Olympiacos at OAKA, where he played as a starter.
