(ANSA) – CATANZARO, JULY 11 – Life imprisonment for Salvatore Lo Bianco, 51, and 28 years of imprisonment for Rosario Lo Bianco, 55, each believed to belong to the ‘ndrangheta clan of the identical identify. That is the sentence issued by the Courtroom of Assizes of Catanzaro (president Massimo Forciniti) within the trial for the homicide of geologist Filippo Piccione, 55, which happened on February 21, 1993 within the heart of Vibo Valentia. The requests made by the general public prosecutor, the deputy prosecutor of the DDA Veronica Calcagno, on the conclusion of the closing speech on July 2 had been nearly totally accepted. Rosario Lo Bianco, defended by the lawyer Patrizio Cuppari, was granted mitigating circumstances. Salvatore Lo Bianco was assisted by the legal professionals Giuseppe Orecchio and Vincenzo Gennaro. The result of the trial was decided by the statements of collaborators of justice, Andrea Mantella and Totò Mazzeo, who had indicated Salvatore Lo Bianco as the fabric perpetrator of the homicide. In line with what was reported by the informants themselves, Piccione was killed as a result of he was suspected of being concerned within the homicide of Leoluca Lo Bianco, a member of the prison group of the identical identify, killed on land owned by the geologist himself.
