Roma – The Palazzetto dello Sport in Viale Tiziano has often been the home of Roman boxing and wants to be so again starting tonight. The ring returns to the center of the facility (since reopening it had only happened for the kickboxing world champion Mattia Faraoni) thanks to Giovanni De Carolis. The last world champion of Italian boxing, a few days after saying goodbye to competitive activity, proposes as organizer a Roman derby that promises sparks. Mirko Geografo against Pietro Rossetti, the welterweight Ebu Silver at stake, effectively a European semi-final. A main event that changed during the race, given that it was originally Alfieri who had to challenge Geografo. “Paradoxically, from the point of view of the combination of styles, tonight’s is an even more captivating main event – explains De Carolis -. Geographer is a temporist. Rossetti is someone who never gives up. He made two missteps, the first in Germany against a very strong boxer, the second in the Italian title against Aouina, a match in which he made the wrong tactic. It will certainly be a match that lives up to expectations.” Live TV on Raisport starting at 10.20pm.
Giovanni De Carolis leaves boxing: “It was nice, but everything has its time”

The rest of the setting is that of great occasions: “As soon as there was the possibility of organizing at the Palazzetto I immediately jumped at the opportunity – explains De Carolis – I fought there in 2015 against Ali Ndyaye and you can really breathe a particular atmosphere . The desire is to bring Roman boxing back to its old glories, with the canonical Friday appointment. I thank the Sports Councilor Alessandro Onorato, who perfectly understood the lines of our project”.
From boxer to organizer
De Carolis also explains what the life of a boxer is like after retirement: “In reality I continue to do what I have always done for 15 years now. I run a gym in Monterosi, I follow the kids, I train too. I do a bit of sparring, and the weight hasn’t gone up either, on the contrary… The only thing that changes is the date of the fight, which is now just a memory.” Ambitious as befits a former world champion, he has one goal with his De Carolis promotions: “5 years from now we aspire to become the best organization in Italy. Boxing is a very valuable product that sits on the bottom shelf and without the right frame. The cards are there to be played, you have to be ready.”
The promising Sarchioto in the ring in December
Among De Carolis’ most interesting boxers, one who seems to have what it takes to achieve top-level goals is Giovanni Sarchioto: “He was supposed to be there tonight too, but there was a bureaucratic problem. He will still be present on the card, again in Rome, on December 14th. He fought already in America making a big impression. He’s a cold boxer, technically good, tough, he has personality. In short, it has everything…”.
Lots of interesting sub-highlight matches
The sub-highlight is also interesting, again full of Roman derbies. In the super lightweight Mauro Loli vs Valerio Mazzulla, in the super welterweight Patrizio Moroni vs Samuele Pace. PRO debut for Luca Khalil against Matteo Montoni. Alessio Mastronunzio will face Mihail Burlac, fresh from the surprise success against Christian Gasparri. Also in the ring are Tiziano Barilotti and the young heavyweight Kefalinos, just nineteen, and on whose career De Carolis Promotions has decided to focus.
