Less than 24 hours after deciding the derby against Benfica with a brace, Mozambican Geny Catamo, already feeling colder, left a message on social media this Sunday afternoon after Sporting’s 2-1 victory.
The 23-year-old player highlighted the focus on Sporting’s “objective” and thanked the support of members, fans and supporters.
«We remain focused on our objective, three more [ndr: pontos]. Thank you, Sporting fans, for your support. Let’s go”, can be read in Geny Catamo’s message.
The winger, who at the end of 2023 renewed his contract with the Lions until 2028, has 35 games, six goals and five assists in 2023/24. It is by far the best season as a senior for the Mozambique international, after spending the last two seasons on loan at Vitória and Marítimo.
On Saturday, two goals from Geny, in the first minute and in the 90th minute, decided the derby against Benfica. Alexander Bah (45 3m) scored the goal for the Reds.
In the standings, Sporting is the leader, with 71 points, four more than Benfica, which has 67. There are six rounds left to go (18 points up for grabs), with Sporting having seven left, as they have the game in hand. Famalicão to be played, relating to the 20th round: it will be played on April 16th.
