Gent Jazz and Jazz Middelheim in bubble mode

There will indeed be an edition of Gent Jazz and Jazz Middelheim this summer, but in one and a half meter version. And with only Belgian groups.

Two hundred spectators would have been too little, but now that open-air festivals can receive four hundred people, and as of August even eight hundred, Ghent Jazz and Jazz Middelheim can indeed take place.

‘Gent Jazz 1.5’ runs from July 8 to 21 on the Bijloke site, where the Garden Stage is normally located, and offers two or three concerts daily. The first names include bands such as Labtrio, Commander Spoon, Flying Horseman, Urbex, Nabou and Jef Neve, who will play a solo concert.

Also at Jazz Middelheim, which takes place in Park Den Brandt from 11 to 24 August, only Belgian acts perform.

The organization is committed to providing a festival atmosphere, even if the corona rules are respected: at least one and a half meters between the visitors, a seated audience, which may be in ‘bubbles’ of up to fifteen people.

After the concerts a ‘summer bar’ with DJs. Tickets for Gent Jazz cost between 19 and 24 euros per day. On 17 and 18 July, Gent Jazz also hosts Mardi Gras on the Bijloke site, the spectacle that took place under the city hall during the Ghent Festivities in recent years.
