Genoa asks for unity from the PP of León around the figure of Javier Santiago | Radio Leon | Present

The provincial PP has set for July 18 the provincial congress from which the new head of the party in León, who will replace Juan Martínez Majo, will leave. The date and the previous calendar were set at a meeting of the board of directors not without tension.

The sector of the PP that supports the option of Manuel García tried, without success, to stop that call just a few hours before before the more than certain possibility of losing the vote on the appointments of the organizing committee. Finally, the meeting was held after the provincial leadership received a wake-up call from Genoa. Both sectors reached an agreement to appoint those in charge of ensuring the cleanliness of the process.

The other candidacy, headed by the mayor of Almanza, Javier Santiago, insists on Madrid’s mandate to unify different sectors. Remember that he has already managed to integrate other sectors of the PP with the incorporation of David Fernández as his number two and he also extends his hand to the other candidate to unify the lists.

His rival Manuel García, has the support of members of the old guard of the PP. Among them the president of the Berciano PP, Raúl Valcarce who says he has 90% of the guarantees of that region for his candidate. Javier Santiago reminds him that the statutes prohibit collecting guarantees at this point. Another of the supporters of the candidacy of the Villaquilambre councilor (who still does not want to speak in public) is José Miguel González, the former provincial secretary of the party who had to leave his post after revealing that he falsified a right title to gain weight your resume.

In any case, the option supported by the party at the national level is the one headed by Javier Santiago, as a result of the “need to unify the two majority currents” that historically have been at odds in the provincial PP, on the one hand, which was grouped around the late Isabel Carrasco and, on the other, that of Senator Antonio Silván
