Geninus, a company specializing in genome analysis, announced on the 4th that it has obtained official certification as a genetic testing agency in the ‘Direct to Consumer (DTC) Genetic Testing Competency Certification System (DTC Certification System)’ conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare starting this year. .
DTC genetic testing refers to genetic testing that consumers can receive directly from a genetic testing agency without visiting a medical institution. Through this, consumers can easily receive genetic testing and manage their health according to their genetic characteristics.
In Korea, DTC genetic testing is available, focusing on wellness items for disease prevention and health management, such as nutrition, skin/hair, lifestyle and personal characteristics, through genetic testing institutions that have received prior approval for test items.
The DTC certification system is a system run by the Ministry of Health and Welfare for the purpose of safe genetic testing.
Geniners explained that it had undergone the DTC certification system screening in the first half of this year and obtained official certification as a DTC genetic testing agency after evaluating various criteria such as test accuracy, test result delivery, and personal information protection. The certification is valid for 3 years, and the certified institution can provide DTC genetic testing services for the item. In the future, Geninus plans to expand new inspection items through additional conformity assessment.
A company official said, “We are currently pursuing business alliances with a number of healthcare solution companies.
