Geneva Airport Strike Ends: Cancellations and Delays Impact Flights

Dec 24, 2023 at 3:49 PM Update: 3 hours ago

The strike by employees at Geneva airport is over. Out of dissatisfaction with a new wage proposal, ground staff from handling company dnata stopped work on Sunday morning. A provisional agreement has ended the strike.

Six flights were canceled due to the strike, the airport reports. In addition, there were many delays of more than an hour. KLM had to cancel a morning flight from Schiphol to Geneva.

Employees of Dubai National Air Travel Agency, as dnata’s full name is, would support just under a quarter of all flights on Sunday with, for example, loading and unloading luggage.

According to the SSP union, the strike was a success. It would have succeeded in stopping a proposed reduction in pensions. DNAta has also promised extra salary and allowances, the association reports.
