About the episode
Researchers from the Vrije Universiteit have discovered that genetic predisposition determines both the work attitude and the school performance of students.
They also refute that children get better grades because of this good working attitude. Both have a genetic background.
The research was conducted among no fewer than 8,000 twins in group 8. Teachers were also asked to indicate the working attitude of the children in the classroom.
Knowing how genes and environment influence school performance can help determine how children who are not doing so well can be better helped.
In this audio you will hear the researcher Elsje van Bergen from the VU. Read more about the research here: DNA influences work attitude and school performance If you are part of twins and would like to participate in future research, please look here: Dutch Twin Register
