Genesis unveils its first electric car. The gear selector is hidden in a crystal ball

The Genesis brand, a luxury offshoot of Hyundai, has so far offered conventional SUVs and sedans on the market. Now it adds an electric hatchback. She named it quite simply and without fanfare about the GV60 drive, which puts him just below the GV70 SUV.

It is the first car of this brand to be on the E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) platform, and after the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kie EV6 the third car on this platform at all.

However, the GV60 still differs quite a lot from the mentioned electric cars. In addition to the controversial double lights, which adhere to all other current genesis, the body has a significantly rounded shape, which gives the car a unique character.

In the same way, the interior looks completely different except for the panel with a pair of displays and the number of steering wheel arms. It is worth mentioning, for example, the “floating” console on the center tunnel or the display on the sides of the dashboard – the GV60 has the location of the camera’s rearview mirrors.

However, the gear selector is much more interesting. This is basically a sphere that, when switched off, glows with the same color as the ambient interior lighting. But when you “start”, the ball turns and becomes a voter.

The gear selector hidden in the crystal ball is an interesting idea.

So far, the carmaker keeps any technical data for itself, but we can speculate on the basis of the already known parameters ioniqu and EV6.

Thus, the battery will operate with a voltage of 800 V and can hold up to 78 kWh of energy, which can be supplemented with power of up to 350 kW. And the most powerful variant could have up to 585 horsepower from two electric motors, one on each axle.

The detailed introduction of the GV60 will certainly not be long in coming. Whether the carmaker will bring a novelty to the Munich Motor Show, which is about to begin, is still a question.
