Genesis is finally entering European markets. Korean luxury will also arrive in the Czech Republic

The Hyundai luxury brand will enter Europe with the G80 sedan and GV80 SUV. More models will follow.


The Genesis brand separated from its parent Hyundai in 2015 and has been gradually expanding since then. It is expanding its range of cars and entering new markets. From the beginning the management of the Korean concern emphasized that Genesis would also arrive in Europe. However, we were still waiting for implementation. This year, however, it will finally change.

Genesis has officially announced that it is entering European markets as early as the summer of 2021. The expansion will be logically gradual, with customers in the United Kingdom, Germany and Switzerland being the first to see Hyundai’s luxury brands.

“The Czech Republic is one of the markets in which the Genesis brand should expand only in the next waves, which we expect in 2022 or 2023,” comments David Pavlíček, PR manager of the Czech representation of the Hyundai brand. However, selected Czech Hyundaie dealers will be able to accept orders for Genesis cars, which will be imported from Germany, this year.

Two models will be the first to be sold in Europe, upper middle class sedan G80 a SUV GV80. This will be followed by i G70 middle class sedan a SUV GV70.

During the first year since the start of sales, three electric cars are expected. One of them will be the electric version of the G80, the other will be a car with an electric platform E-GMP, already used by Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.

At the same time, Genesis emphasizes that European car specifications will be tuned exactly to the requirements of the European clientele. After all, their development took place directly at the European headquarters, prototypes covered tens of thousands of kilometers in 15 countries, while visiting, for example, the famous Northern Loop of the Nürburgring. It even counts on a model specially designed for the old continent, which it seems to be previously announced shooting brake derived from G70.
