The Mason Jar Cafe customer’s bill was $32.43, but he left another $10,000 in tip.
Restaurant manager Tim Sweeney said he couldn’t believe it when he saw the check and ran over to talk to the generous customer.
A customer of the restaurant named Mark allegedly explained to the employees that he had come to town for his friend’s funeral and had left such a tip as a keepsake.
The restaurant chose to split the tip among nine co-workers. Each took home just over $1,100.
The employee, Mulika, who will use the money to pay off her student loan, was happy that “so many unique women, so many hard-working mothers who really deserve it” were working that day.
“We work hard,” Mullick said. “We know that some days we will make more and some days we will make less,” she added.
