The rate of cases notified this Sunday remains down in almost all communities that have given data with 1,256 new infections in total. It is worth highlighting the case of Cantabria, where cases have decreased by 77% compared to the previous weekend, and the Basque Country, with a 56% drop in positives. There they did not go below 200 daily infections since June.
Catalonia is the only community that, for now, has registered an increase in cases compared to last week, with 620 infections in the last hours. However, the good news is that there have been no deaths and the situation in the hospitals is hospitalized. In addition, the risk of regrowth has dropped one point, standing at 94.
However, the good news of the general decline in infections contrasts with the drop in the rate of vaccination. Since the summer began, this has been the week where fewer people have been immunized against the coronavirus. And according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health, the 12 to 19-year-old group already outnumbers 20 to 29, and 30 to 39 years of age in vaccination.
In just three months, 78.4% of young people between the ages of 12 and 19 have already received at least one dose, and more than half already have the complete guideline. By Autonomous Communities, the Region of Murcia leads the way. There, almost 66% of children are fully immunized against COVID-19, and, in addition, this Sunday has reported the lowest number of infections since the beginning of August (161).
Meanwhile, in Baleares, the 64% of the youngest have already received both doses of the vaccine, and the downward trend in infections continues (177), which represents about 15% fewer positives than last weekend.
