According to Lola Clavreul, of the Federation of Pluralistic Family Planning Centers, fears remain among some adults, but they are unjustified.
The secular federation of family planning centers (FLCPF), in collaboration with the federation of pluralist family planning centers (FCPPF) and that of parents’ associations in official education (FAPEO), launched last Tuesday the first campaign to awareness of the generalization of Education for relational, affective and sexual life (Evras). The initiative aims to inform about the need for an educational course in relational, affective and sexual life throughout schooling and which is adapted to the development of the child.
According to organizations, barely 20% of students had access to at least one Evras session throughout their schooling and not all students have equal access to this information.

“It’s still a taboo subject in some schools. He is sometimes difficult to bring these courses into certain establishments“explains Lola Clavreul, director of the federation of pluralist family planning centers, in Le 12h30 de BX1+. “We know that in some schools, questions of gender, homosexuality or abortion remain difficult subjects to discuss. Everything is left to the freedom of schools, which can create inequalities between students”she believes.
“However, it is difficult to make generalizations or to target schools. Many adults are simply uncomfortable with matters of sexuality.. And fears remain among the parents, the organizing powers or the managements according to which if one speaks too early about these questions, one risks inciting the pupils to have an active sexuality. While this is totally false”adds Lola Clavreul. “On the contrary, it is beneficial: a study by the WHO, ten years ago, shows that the more openly we talk about these issues that concern young people, the more they will return to their sexuality in a responsible way”.
She is delighted to see that political attention is being paid to EVRAS, which still needs to benefit from financial support to enable the centers and associations to do their work with schools and parents.
