Generalitat donates an urn from 1-O to poor children

An urn of the illegal referendum of 1-O has been the contribution of the Generalitat to the traditional campaign to collect toys in Barcelona for children from families without resources, which this year it has gone from being called “No boy without a toy” to “No girl without a toy”. The device offered by the Generalitat has caused astonishment and indignation outside the separatist sphere. The Generalitat is accused of wanting to politicize the feast of the Magi.

The person in charge of making such a gift has been the regional government spokesperson and leader of Junts per Catalunya (JxCat), Meritxell Budó, who declared that “on October 1, a vote was taken to achieve a better future for our children and therefore I have thought that this gift, this object, was very appropriate”. “If we want a better future – it has abounded – we need to be able to freely decide the future of our country.” Budó has sent that message through Twitter showing his best smile and showing the plastic urn adorned with a red bow. The plastic container also bears your signature on one side.

The initiative of the separatist leader has been dismissed as inappropriate by many of the participants in the campaign, although the organization, which depends on the radio station Radio Barcelona and the Casino La Alianza del Poblenou, has tried to justify the Minister of the Presidency by warning of what the object was not given as a toy but was for the auction with which funds are raised. In this auction, athletes and famous people usually donate personal items, signed shirts, sports shoes, signed records and books or musical instruments.

Auction failure
