“General Surovikin has gone out. Alive, healthy, at home, with his family, in Moscow. The photo was taken today,” media personality Ksenia Sobchak wrote on her Telegram account, the first to publish the photo.
“General Surovikin is at home with his family. He is on vacation and at the disposal of the Ministry of Defense,” writes former editor-in-chief of “Echo Moskvi” Alexey Venediktov.
Surovikin was last seen when Prigozhin recorded a video message during the mutiny calling on the Wagnerites to stand down.
A few days later, news appeared on Russian channels that Surovikin had been detained, but no official comments followed.
Surovikin, nicknamed “General Armageddon”, was appointed commander of Russian troops in Ukraine in October 2022, but was removed from this position three months later. After that, he was the commander of the Russian Air and Space Forces.
