“The chief of defense informed Putin about the successful joint air patrol during the president’s meeting with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council on Friday (11/19/2021),” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

“According to the report, a Su-35S aircraft of the Russian Air Force provided combat support for the strategic bomber. Command and control of the bomber in the air is carried out from the A-50U surveillance and control radar aircraft,” Peskov continued, as quoted by the TASS news agency.
According to Peskov, in some parts of the route, strategic missile-carrying bombers were escorted by F-16 and F-15 fighters of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. “Joint patrols were carried out strictly in accordance with international legal norms. There were no violations of the airspace of foreign countries,” a Kremlin spokesman stressed.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Friday that the joint air patrols by two Russian Tu-95MS and two Chinese Hong-6K strategic bombers were not aimed at a third country.

“This step was taken as part of the 2021 military cooperation plan and is not aimed at third countries,” the ministry said. “Joint air patrols by Russian and Chinese military aircraft are carried out to develop and strengthen global strategic stability,” he continued.
“Joint air patrols are carried out to develop Russia-China relations, comprehensive partnership and further increase the level of interaction between the armed forces of the two countries, enhance their capabilities for joint operations and also strengthen global strategic stability,” the statement said.
