Written by Muhammad Fouad Sunday, February 4, 2024 03:00 PM The General Secretariat of Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, affiliated with the Ministry of Health and Population, participates in the activities of the Cairo International Book Fair in its 55th session, which is held at the Center Egypt for international exhibitions and conferencesin the Fifth Settlement, which concludes its activities on February 6, 2024.
The General Secretariat is participating in the book fair for the tenth year in a row, as a full team of doctors and distinguished publications is present, in order to provide psychological services to the exhibition’s visitors in Halls 1 and 4, as well as in the exhibition lobby.
“The Seventh Day” monitored the services provided by the General Secretariat of Mental Health under the supervision and management of Dr. Abdel Moneim Abdel Maqsoud, Secretary-General, through specialized doctors to provide free consultations to all visitors to the exhibition, in addition to distributing free publications to learn about the various services provided by the Secretariat, including “addiction treatment and health.” Psychology for children and adolescents,” and “Women’s health and smoking,” in addition to awareness videos displayed on screens located inside the Secretariat’s wing.
In turn, we communicated from within the pavilion of the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment at the book fair, with Dr. Mona Tammam, Director of Public Relations and Media, to clarify the role of the Secretariat and the services that are provided more broadly through the exhibition’s activities.
Dr. Mona Tammam stressed that there is a particularly high demand for questions related to children’s mental health, in addition to questions related to addiction treatment, and the doctors affiliated with the Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment are always keen to be present at the book fair, interact with visitors and guests of the book fair, and answer all questions.
Regarding the publications issued by the Secretariat, Dr. Mona Tammam added that they aim to introduce the efforts made by it and the affiliated units spread across the governorates of the Republic with the aim of helping citizens achieve positive mental health and erasing societal stigma about mental illness.
Many leaflets and paper publications were also distributed and visitors were introduced to other services provided by the Authority, whether its electronic platform or the hotline number 16328, in addition to broadcasting an awareness video about the Authority’s activities and positive mental health treatment, which won the admiration of the visitors who were keen to acquire the publications and interact with the General Secretariat team.
