General practitioners want to close their studies in protest

Rising costs, no help: While clinics receive financial grants from the federal government, doctors’ offices get nothing.

On November 30, doctors in private practice will protest nationwide in Frankfurt am Main against the federal government’s health policy as a reaction to planned austerity measures. This is what the federal medical associations together with the medical insurance companies (KV) are calling for.

Doctors are demanding better working conditions and criticize the planned abolition of the new patient regulation, which offers doctors financial incentives to take on new patients. They are also concerned about tariff trends, high energy costs and rising inflation. According to KV Hessen, they face losses of around 400 million euros throughout Germany.

Furthermore, the statutory adjustment for inflation will be abolished in the next few years.

“Clinics are paid to do nothing”

“We, who were a reliable partner and a protective wall for the clinics during the pandemic, should now see how the clinics continue to be generously funded for their idleness but denied reasonable raises,” the appeal says KV Hesse days of protest.

The background to the conflict is the result of this year’s negotiations between health insurance companies and the Association of Compulsory Health Insurance Physicians about rates. The medical profession’s request for a six percent increase for next year was rejected by the insurance companies.

The November 30 protest shouldn’t end there. The days of protest in Frankfurt continue on December 7th.
