There is not yet full support for the new health plans. ActiZ, one of the largest organizations in the Dutch health sector, and the National Association of GPs (LHV) want to receive more guarantees before signing the proposed health agreement.
In the health agreement, the government and representatives of the health sector have planned the future of the sector. Due to the aging of the population, the demand for assistance is expected to increase significantly in the coming years. The IGA contains all kinds of measures to prevent the industry from stalling.
But the deal is not yet fully supported. For example, GPs want to receive more short-term guarantees, for example from the Dutch Health Authority (NZa) on rates for evening, night and weekend care for next year and from health insurers on the deal to come. provided them with more time for their patients.
In the evening, members of the sector organization ActiZ also rejected the health agreement. They said they wanted to see more “guarantees, preconditions and results”. ActiZ is affiliated with a total of about four hundred organizations, mainly active in the care of the elderly and the chronically ill, from nursing homes to home care.
The trade association is said to support “the movement” of the agreement, but says it can only support it if “the viability of the agreements is also guaranteed in 2023”. The fact that ActiZ and general practitioners do not support the deal is painful for the government, which hopes to conclude a widely supported deal with the health sector ahead of Budget Day.
Support from nurses for approval
The care agreement should focus more on prevention and work more efficiently. According to leaked drafts, complex care needs to be more concentrated and, for example, it is more difficult to hire care providers who don’t have a contract with a health insurer
The professional association V&VN supports the service contract. “We are on the eve of tough choices in health care. We are already seeing that things are stalling,” says the organization for nurses and caregivers. “This is exactly why it is so important that we as a professional group take responsibility in this service contract.”
The V&VN adds that there are still “important points of attention” if the so-called Integrated Assistance Agreement (IZA) is to be successful.
According to the V&VN, the goals can only be achieved if there is good cooperation between all kinds of different parties in the health sector. The organization refers to general practitioners, district nursing care providers and insurers. For example, they need to work together to ensure that more care can be provided at home.
