General practitioner suspended after missing brain tumor in woman

The patient in question had filed a complaint against the doctor. She had got a headache while traveling and called the doctor from her holiday address. Then she decided to go home.

Tumor

In her own country, she consulted the doctor twice. He first thought of migraines, then of bowel problems. The doctor left on vacation and the woman consulted a colleague. She sent her to the hospital, where the tumor was diagnosed.

The Commission states that the general practitioner has not conducted a good and extensive investigation. In determining the measure, the Municipal Executive takes into account an earlier decision by the disciplinary court, in which it was reprimanded for similar actions.

Lack of self-understanding

The Municipal Executive deplores the general practitioner that he has not improved his actions afterwards. In addition, the Commission is of the opinion that the GP has a lack of self-insight and that he is not sympathetic towards the complainant.

The GP states that the complaints are not justified. He is of the opinion that he provided defensible care at both consultations.
