In 2014, Kournikov was the Deputy Head of the Azov-Black Sea Regional Logistics Department. In Simferopol, he helped servicemen and their families travel to mainland Ukraine.

It is noted that Kournikov kept and passed on valuable official information to Ukraine.

He retired from service in 2020.

According to the publication Odessa.online, Kournikov drowned on the beach near the 13th station of the Big Fountain. His body was dragged ashore by rescuers. The doctors could not resuscitate him.

According to preliminary information, the man lived in Zhitomir. I came to Odessa with my family on vacation.
