JAKARTA – General Motors has a new prestigious job with NASA. Autoblog stated, General Motors will work with global security company Lockheed Martin in making a lunar rover car or called the Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV).
In a recent announcement, General Motors said the creation of the LTV is part of a series of NASA’s newest space project, Project Artemis. In the project, General Motors is expected to be able to build an LTV that can not only explore the Moon but also transport astronauts around the Moon.

The effort to transport the astronauts was carried out because NASA saw that currently exploration of the Moon had not yet been maximized. The exploration on General Motors’ LTV is expected to reach the southern side of the Moon, which is known as a very dark, cold and untouched side.
General Motors did not mention the time it took to build the new Moon explorer car. It’s just that they claim the LTV will be able to have a better mileage than the lunar rover car used by the Apollo spacecraft that once reached the Moon. At that time, the LTV carried by Apollo was only able to reach a distance of 7 kilometers from the location where Apollo landed on the Moon.

The LTV will be equipped with the autonomous and sensing technology that General Motors has developed recently. Both technologies are expected to be able to make transportation activities on the Moon safer and more efficient.
