The head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are very effectively defending themselves in Bakhmut and arrange a “massacre” against the Russians. He announced this at a congressional hearing, his channel quotes CNN.
According to him, the main attacks of the Russians are concentrated on Bakhmut – the city is stormed by about 6,000 trained terrorists of the Wagner group, and possibly another 20,000 or 30,000 recruits, some of whom were recruited from prisons.
He noted that the invaders are suffering huge losses in the Bakhmut area.
“Ukrainians cause these guys a lot of death and destruction. The battle for Bakhmut turned into a massacre for the Russians,” the commander said.
Milli said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are conducting a very effective defense, which turned out to be very expensive for the enemy.
“For about the last 20-21 days, the Russians have not made any progress in Bakhmut and around it. So for them this is a massacre. They are being beaten in the Bakhmut area, the Ukrainians fought very well,” the general emphasized.
