In addition, the Ministry of Transport has submitted a document on organizing a general review of traffic accidents, potential traffic accidents and irregularities in traffic organization on the roads to the provincial and city people’s committees and the Vietnam Road Administration. From there, propose solutions, plans, and roadmaps to overcome problems. Organize to eliminate shortcomings in transport organization if there are recommendations from authorities and organizations.
In implementation of the implementing provisions in Government Decree No. 06/2021 and instructions in circulars from the Ministry of Transport on the management, operation, use and maintenance of road structures, the Ministry of Transport has issued decisions approving the national maintenance plan for the highway system.
In particular, in 2023, the maintenance plan for the national highway system was completed and VND 11,958 billion was disbursed (representing 99.85% of the allocated capital plan), including the treatment of 21 priority areas and 60 potential traffic accident sites. In 2024, the maintenance plan will be implemented, which includes 13 traffic accident sites and 8 potential traffic accident sites.
In addition, in implementation of the Prime Minister’s Directive No. 31/CT-TTg to strengthen the work to ensure traffic order and safety for school-age students in the new situation, the Ministry of Transport has directed the Road Department, with which the Ministry of Vietnam has coordinated Locally Authorities are inspecting 3,930 schools along the national highway, of which 3,245 schools need to strengthen the road safety system in the school gate area.
“So far, the Vietnam Road Administration has ordered immediate corrections in the regular maintenance of 2,298 schools; prioritized and approved the completion of unexpected repairs for 642 schools in the 2024 maintenance plan. The remaining cases will continue to be updated every year in the regular repair and repair plan to improve road safety on national roads in general and in particular in certain areas,” the Ministry of Transport added.
