The Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, criticized the restructuring at General Electric on Thursday, and announced the day before.
“There are difficulties and that can lead to certain decisions, but certainly not windfall decisions. And things have to be clear,” he said during a hearing in the Senate.
753 positions concerned in France
General Electric announced Wednesday its intention to restructure two divisions in Europe, that of equipment for dams (Hydro) and for electrical networks (Grids), which “generate significant financial losses”.
According to a union source, the plan provides for the elimination of 753 jobs in France, including “618 jobs in the Grid branch, eliminated on the Villeurbanne, Aix, Saint-Priest and Montpellier sites”, and “135 jobs in the Hydro branch, removed at the Belfort and Boulogne-Billancourt sites ”.
In Belfort, the mayor of the city speaks of 89 jobs concerned.
