Lambaréné, August 26, 2023 (AGP) – As expected, on August 26, 2023, the Gabonese people are invited, by the ballot box, to elect their President of the Republic, their deputies and their local elected officials. In the province of Moyen-Ogooué, voters stormed the polling centers to fulfill their civic duty.
In order to choose their next representatives, at the highest level of the state, as well as in the deputies and local authorities, the voters of Moyen-Ogooué stormed the polling stations this morning in the various centers of the town of Lambarene.
Some centers were less crowded than others, but the observation made on the ground shows that the electoral process is indeed effective. So far the vote is taking place in serenity and calm.
However, an incident occurred in the polling centers of the Moudjekou school and that of Jacqueline Rawiri, in the 1st district of Lambaréné. Indeed, the founder of the Free Democrats party, Davin Akoure, would have raised the ballot boxes, on the pretext that he would not have found his ballot paper in certain offices.
Faced with this observation, the latter decided to take the ballot boxes with him. At the time of going to press, some polling stations were reportedly closed following this incident, including office number 1 at Moudjekou school and another at Jacqueline Rawiri school. For now, only the Jacqueline Rawiri school office has reopened.
We will come back…
