General assembly. Grand Est Football League: for the election, it will be necessary to wait until January 16

In this period of health crisis, the Leagues have taken to videoconferencing. The Grand Est Football League has not escaped the rule and has “met” by screens interposed this Saturday afternoon for a little over an hour. Suffice to say that despite the inevitable “technical” trial and error, it did not drag on. The agenda, however, was relatively extensive. The 1136 clubs present in this dematerialized meeting (out of 1510) were indeed called upon to vote a change of status on the distribution of the number of votes per club, in order to comply with the other Leagues …

After this first part presented by Jean-Marie Thiriet, member of the CD and very recent ex-president of the CD54, and validated by the clubs (93.1% of the votes), Albert Gemmrich took the floor to recall how the pandemic had affected clubs hard and continued to affect them. “For eight months, we have been living at the pace of the Covid-19 health crisis” explained the President of the League behind his desk, convinced that the uncertainties would last a long time, “well beyond the health crisis”.

In this murky context, the League decided to postpone a second time the payment of the deposit on the licenses that the clubs had to pay to the League. Postponed for the first time to December 31, payment will be made this time on March 31.

Relegations to R3 smoothed over two seasons

For the rest, this general assembly allowed the clubs to vote massively (91.52%) for the provisional budget presented (with 9,825,000 euros of products) and for a smoothing of the relegations from R2 to R3 over two seasons. At the end of the 2020/2021 season, the last two in each group and the six worst 10it is will descend (in the event that there is no National descent) to form eight groups of twelve teams.

But at the end of the 2021-2022 season, the number of R2 teams will be reduced to 84 instead of 96 to form six groups of fourteen teams. A formula which found a favorable echo with the clubs which voted 77.6% for.

The clubs now have an appointment on January 16 for the elective general assembly of the League. This will take place at the Prouvé Congress Center in Nancy if the health situation permits. Otherwise, the League will turn to a dematerialized formula. Like this Saturday …
