“General Armageddon has got a new job” despite rumors that he has disappeared, Sky News reported.
Several Russian media reported on Sunday that General Sergei Surovikin had been given a new “peripheral” job, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
If true, the man nicknamed General Armageddon will now be responsible for overseeing the function of the common air defense system of the CIS member states – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova (which has suspended participation – note .), Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Despite rumors that the general is missing, a new photo appeared on social media last week that apparently shows him.
General Surovikin’s transfer to the CIS is in line with “previous patterns of the Russian military leadership moving disgraced and ineffective commanders to peripheral positions” away from Ukraine – but without their formal release from the Russian military, ISW said.
