Biodiversity at the gene level is the diversity of living things that occurs because of differences.
Living things in this world certainly have various differences ranging from shape, appearance, size, nature, and so on.
For example, there are groups of plants with tall trunks such as mango trees, coconut trees, and banyan trees.
While there are also low-trunked trees such as chilies, tomatoes, and so on.

Definition of Biodiversity at Gene Level
The level of biodiversity is divided into several, with one of them being the diversity of the gene level. This can happen in two ways, namely natural and artificial.
If it occurs naturally, then the environment becomes the most important factor. While artificial, of course there is human intervention.
Genes are chemical substances that will determine the nature of the offspring contained in the chromosome locus obtained from both parents through inheritance. So, what is gene-level diversity?
Gene diversity is the variation in the gene composition of a species of living thing. This type of diversity occurs in individuals of the same species.

What Causes Gene Diversity?
Basically, gene-level diversity can occur through the mating process between two individuals of the same species.
Later, the offspring that are the result of mating will have a set of genes that come from both parents.
It is the combination of these gene sets that will cause the diversity of individuals within a species.
Environmental factors can affect the apparent nature of each individual’s adjustment. Meanwhile, biodiversity at the level of self-made genes occurs through hybridization or cross-breeding.
Examples of Gene Level Diversity
After knowing the meaning and how the process of gene diversity occurs, maybe you have got a small picture of an example.
There are so many examples of gene diversity that exist in this life. In fact, you can find them easily.
- Examples of Gene Diversity in Plants
Gene diversity exists in the fruit world. There are lots of easy examples, such as mango.
Mango consists of various types, ranging from arumanis, manalagi, to Indramayu. Another example is bananas.
In Indonesia alone there are several different types of bananas, such as kepok, Ambon, taro, Pulo, and so on. For flowering plants, examples of gene diversity also occur in roses and orchids,

- Animal Gene Diversity
In addition to fruit, animals also have a diversity of genes. An easy example is dogs and cats.
They are widely kept by humans and consist of different types with different characteristics. Types of cats such as persian, angora, and so forth.
While the types of dogs there are bulldogs, golden, and many more. Another example of gene diversity in animals is in horses, tigers, chickens, birds, and so on.
The biodiversity of genes that exist in living things is very visible which you can easily understand with their examples as above. (R10/HR-Online)
