“The account is not there”, repeats Pascale Pavone several times. “And the observation is becoming alarmist,” adds the elected official from Pessac in her intervention this Friday, February 2, during the debates in the Bordeaux Métropolitaine council on the annual report on gender equality. She observes a “clear decline since 2020”:
“There was then 4 men and 4 women in the positions of general directors in 2019, 7 men and 2 women in 2020, and 8 men and 1 woman today. Organizational chart reorganizations cannot explain everything. Even if we welcome progress, what is essential is missing: ambitious solutions and the fierce desire to apply them. »
This inequality in access to the highest responsibilities is reflected in the salary gaps, noted by this report: the cumulative amount of the 10 highest gross remunerations for the year 2022 for Bordeaux Métropole is 1.16 million euros, divided between 1 woman and 9 men.
“Few women apply for these positions of responsibility and this is a subject on which we must progress,” recognizes Jean-François Egron, vice-president of Bordeaux Métropole in charge of human resources.
