Flex office, teleworking, new offices… How do employees experience these changes within their work organization? And more particularly, are there differences in perceptions between men and women?
The expectations and priorities of women in the professional environment
The CSA Research institute questioned, on behalf of Parella – corporate real estate consulting – 500 employees of companies with more than 50 people in France, including 287 women, on the evolution of their work styles and spaces.
The resulting study reveals a notable distinction in the expectations and priorities of women compared to their male colleagues regarding the work environment.
On the one hand, they demonstrate a higher level of demands and different preferences. For example, they value workspace more as a key factor in staying in their company (31% of women versus 26% of men).
On the other hand, there are fewer of them to find their workspaces adapted to new working methods (64% versus 77% of men), respectful of environmental standards (70% versus 75%), and reflecting the image of the company (28% versus 32%). They have a clearer opinion about their current workspaces.
Regarding telecommutingalthough less present in companies authorizing it (66% compared to 77% of men),Women use it more intensively (46% compared to 36% of men), illustrating a need for flexibility, particularly to manage family obligations.
They also show a marked interest in the 4 day week (78% in favor compared to 66% of men) and 100% for teleworking (33% compared to 27% of men).
Women appreciate flex office less (70% compared to 76% of men), but are more clear-cut in their opinion (34% see it as very positive compared to 26% of men).
Women’s pragmatism is also reflected in their approach to tools for hybrid workwith 44% who consider them a priority issue compared to 36% among men.

Fewer women say they are very satisfied with the work surface (26% compared to 37% of men) and general comfort (20% very satisfied compared to 32% of men). They attach more importance to surface area per employee (33% compared to 26% among men) and are more sensitive to equipment and furniture (34% compared to 29% of men).
As for thea location of the company36% of women say they are very satisfied, compared to 40% of men.
They are also more inclined to want investments in eco-responsible aspects (77% versus 72% of men) and in the quality of life at work (84% versus 77% of men).
Finally, women express a greater need for certain services within the company. For example, they benefit less from sporting activities (37% compared to 51% of men), but are more interested in them (53% compared to 38% of men).
Likewise, they have limited access to mental health services (23% compared to 32% of men), but more would use it if available (60% compared to 37% of men).
This study highlights significant differences in the expectations and needs of women in the workplace, highlighting the importance of considering these aspects to improve the retention and satisfaction of female talents in companies.
