Gendarmes Attacked During Cannabis Trafficking Operation in Libourne, Gironde

During an operation to investigate alleged cannabis trafficking in Libourne, Gironde, on October 25, two gendarmes were attacked.

These soldiers were mobilized following an alert from residents of a building irritated by a strong smell of marijuana and constant comings and goings. As recounted South Westan investigation was launched, targeting a couple suspected of being involved in trafficking.

Around 9 a.m. this Wednesday, two gendarmes from the Libourne territorial brigade, working within the operational anti-trafficking unit, attempted to control this couple. However, the soldiers were attacked, receiving punches and headbutts as the couple attempted to retrieve a wad of cash hidden behind the wheel of their vehicle.

Finally, the couple was arrested and placed in police custody for “violence against persons holding public authority”. One of the two gendarmes was declared unfit for work for three days due to her injuries.
