When he arrived at the head of the departmental gendarmerie group of Ariège, during the summer of 2019, Colonel Christophe Heurtebise had set himself a priority: to reopen a research brigade (BR) at the level of the Foix company. This unit already existed until its dissolution in 2010. Then, the officer worked with the management of the national gendarmerie so that this creation was accompanied by the establishment of a surveillance and intervention platoon of the gendarmerie (PSIG) in Saint-Girons and a motorized brigade (BMo) in Pamiers.
These units already exist in the department. Thus, BRs are part of the organization chart of the Pamiers and Saint-Girons gendarmerie companies, and the bikers are stationed at the level of the Foix company which, like that of Pamiers, has a PSIG.
Things have not been easy, but they are moving forward. And rather well since Colonel Heurtebise could have obtained satisfaction. “I am waiting for the creation orders to officially announce it. But I have obtained the approval in principle of my management”, welcomes the commander of the Ariège gendarmerie group, who hopes to be able to speak on the subject. after the start of the September school year.
