A truck from Foz do Iguazú, destined for the province of Córdoba, had some 4,100 kilos of marijuana among its cargo, which was detected by Gendarmerie troops with the help of a force cannon.

According to sources from the force, the operation began at 3:30 p.m., when the truck arrived at the checkpoint in the area of the sentinel post on National Route 14. There, in a routine review, one of the officers noticed irregularities in the tapes that tied the canvas cover that protected the cargo. The safety rope was loose.

This drew the attention of the troops who requested the help of the canine division so that one of the dogs could check the truck. The cannon reacted by approaching the vehicle, and this was enough for the officers to request the intervention of the federal court on duty in Posadas, Judge Verónica Skanata, to requisition the truck.

With the authorization of the Justice, the precincts were opened, and there, together with the witnesses and Customs personnel, the troops found the drug that was prepared in 175 packages, which were taken to the Concepción de las Sierras squad for weighing and other expert procedures.
