/ world today news/ “As president, I will refer to scientific expertise for the decisions I make. At the moment, it is being used to draw up reports or, worse, to justify political decisions that have already been made.”
This was stated by the presidential candidate Gen. Rumen Radev, nominated by the IC and supported by the BSP, after a meeting with the management of the BAS. He is adamant that there should be investment in science, there should be continuity and more care should be taken for young scientists. “Salaries cannot be so humiliating,” he stressed. According to him, the BAS should be a partner and referent of the authorities. “It is absurd to have a modern policy without a thorough and objective assessment. Scientific potential is part of our sovereignty,” he also said. Gen. Radev is of the opinion that Bulgaria should have human capital and the opportunity for independent judgment, and not just rely on foreign expertise. “There are areas in which we must preserve it, develop it and set priorities,” the presidential candidate pointed out.
Gen. Radev is of the opinion that Bulgaria needs a long-term strategic program for the development of Bulgarian society. “With the potential of the BAS people, this can be done. They have already prepared such a document, but it should be subject to a wider debate, evaluated and further developed,” he commented. According to him, there is no continuity – every government should not start from scratch, but strive to build.
Borisov recognizes Kalfin, Traikov and Karakachanov as coalition partners. He named them as representatives of the authorities. I have nothing to debate with them
“In the morning we watched an irrigation sketch of the prime minister, for which he mobilized all kinds of actors from Lionel Messi to Radan’s camper, Mag Svetlina, Prokopiev and who else. Referring to these actors will not help him to give impetus to the GERB campaign for Tsacheva, which is not going well,” said Gen. Radev. Regarding Borisov’s accusation that Radev is running away from a debate, he stated: “Maybe he forgot that there was already one. As he has also neglected the needs and interests of the entire Bulgarian people in his policy”. According to the presidential candidate, Borissov made a mistake by outlining his opponents. “Kalfin was his deputy prime minister, Traikov was his minister, and he and Karakachanov have known each other for a long time and are coalition partners. This shows that they are representatives of the authorities. That is why he really made the debates with these people meaningless, and my only debate, which he himself strengthened, is with Tsetska Tsacheva. I have no intention of holding debates with all the representatives of the authorities,” said the general. Radev added: “Regarding Oresharski, perhaps Borisov has not read the Constitution and is confusing a prime minister with a president.”
