Gélinas ready for return to Rögle

Hillary Éric Gélinas returns to Rögle from the NHL organization Carolina Hurricanes.

After a successful last year’s season, Éric Gélinas chose to try an opportunity with Carolina. The 30-year-old hill, on the other hand, did not get a chance in the NHL but has started the 2021-22 season in the AHL team Chicago Wolves. After nine matches and two assists, he was put on “unconditional waivers” on Sunday with the aim of breaking his contract. No other NHL team chose to take over his contract and now Gélinas returns to Rögle, where he had a contract before leaving last summer.

– I am very excited to be able to welcome Éric home to Ängelholm and Rögle. He is a top player and a very good guy for our group. He will strengthen our set of backs, says Chris Abbott.

Éric Gélinas came to Rögle at the end of the 2018-19 season from Bratislava in the KHL. Last season, the hard-shooting defender scored 34 points (8 + 26) in 46 regular season games and was plus-22 in the plus / minus statistics. With his scoring, he finished fourth in the backs’ scoring in the SHL. Gélinas also scored seven points (1 + 6) in 14 playoff games and helped Rögle to the Swedish Championship silver.

In Rögletröjan, Gélinas has played a total of 90 regular season matches. He has scored 14 goals and 42 assists and a total of eight points (2 + 6) in 16 playoff games. Last season he was one of Rögle’s assistant team captains.

The contract with Gélinas is valid for the rest of the season and has been made possible in collaboration with CorViridis AB.
