Parents and students have been notified by email. The school also informs the 1350 students and their parents by email when the educational institution will reopen. The closure could continue next week if it appears that there are more infections. The school is in constant contact with the GGD Gelderland-Zuid about this, says Janssen.
Monday evening it turned out that one of the students had the corona virus. This student’s class had to stay home on Tuesday. When more students, the class mentor and several other teachers received complaints on Tuesday that needed to be tested, it was decided to close the school. The class and teachers are in quarantine on the advice of the GGD. According to Janssen, a supermarket, a bakery and a toko near the school do not have to worry, because the students were not allowed to come there since the beginning of the school year because it would then become too busy in the shops.
The SSgN already had an emergency scenario in the closet for a possible corona outbreak. “You have to be prepared for that at this time,” says Janssen. The pupils can therefore easily switch to online lessons from Thursday.
More and more young people and young adults are testing positive for corona. The virus is usually not dangerous for them, but they can ‘pass it on’ to the elderly and at risk groups.
