Today is April Fools’ Day, but this information has been circulating on the Internet since Thursday. It refers to the MSRP price of the upcoming graphics card GeForce RTX 4070. Recall that the RTX 4070 Ti is priced at $799, so a lower amount is logically expected, but it’s not really clear by how much. One of the recent leaks talked about a very high price of $749, which would mean only a $50 difference, and such a small number is not to be trusted much, even if we are talking about Nvidia. On the contrary, the Videocardz server now comes with the exact opposite information, with about the lowest amount being considered, which is 599 USD. Such an amount would mean a difference of USD 200 and, in our estimation, a price of some CZK 16,500 including VAT. However, this isn’t the first or last time we’ve come across some kind of figure for the RTX 4070, so we won’t know for sure until two weeks from now.
Let’s also remind you that the RTX 4070 should have a reduced number of CUDA cores from 7680 to 5880 compared to the RTX 4070 Ti, which is the same as the previous generation RTX 3070. But the important thing is that the clocks have increased from 1500/1725 MHz to 1920/ 2475 MHz and the gross performance should thus rise from 20 to 29 TFLOPS. We will also be pleased with the larger memory, from 8 GB GDDR6 to 12 GB GDDR6X and from 14Gbps to half faster 21Gbps chips. This should mean that despite narrowing the bus from 256 to 192 bits, the memory throughput should rise slightly from 448 to 504 GB/s. The good news shouldn’t end there, as the card’s standard consumption should drop from 220 W for the RTX 3070 to 200 W for the RTX 4070 (but there should also be 225 W versions). Now it’s just a question of whether the price from the last leak will really be confirmed or not.
