“GeForce RTX 4000 Series Production Limited due to Decreased Demand and Chip Shortages”

In the past weeks, we informed you about the limitation of the production of cards from the GeForce RTX 4000 series, which is to ensure the sale of stock, which has been increasing for a long time due to the drop in demand for graphics cards.

This has now been confirmed by contacts with the producers of the igor’sLAB website. Specifically, it is a complete stoppage of chip deliveries for GeForce RTX 4070 and GeForce RTX 4080, which are the most abundant. So far, it doesn’t look like the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti and GeForce RTX 4090 will be affected, whose production volumes are probably set well.

The latest model in the series, the GeForce RTX 4070, faces very tough competition, not only from AMD, which offers against it the cheaper Radeon RX 6800 XT / 6900 XT equipped with a higher (16GB) memory capacity, or the more expensive, but more powerful Radeon RX 7900 XT with 20 GB of memory, but also from its own GeForce models of the previous generation, which Nvidia has not yet completely disposed of (currently, by the way, it has released another version of the GeForce RTX 3060 built on a cut-down more powerful GA104 core, which was otherwise used for the production of the GeForce RTX 3070, 3070 Ti and mobile 3080).

The production shutdown is expected to last for weeks. As for other upcoming models, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is still in the works, but it probably won’t happen as quickly as it seemed until recently. If the card will be released in May, as has been reported in recent weeks, it will be at the very end of the month. The beginning of June cannot be ruled out either. Nothing new is known about the GeForce RTX 4050, which was talked about in connection with June, the news has stopped.
