So far we have had reports that a new generation of graphics can be expected in September. But it may not take that long – the new generation of GPUs is getting closer to release than it seemed.

According to behind-the-scenes sources, Nvidia would seem to have its new generation with Lovelace architecture (or perhaps Ada, the official designation is not yet clear) could have been released much earlier. GeForce RX 4090/4080 cards, or as they are called, could be issued or unveiled in as little as two months.

Reports to date have indicated that Nvidia might plan to launch this new generation of graphics in September, at the end of the third quarter. It would be more or less the same time when generations came out Turing (RTX 2000) a Ampere (RTX 3000). Leaker Kopite7kimi, who had the best news about Nvidia’s plans so far (for example, he had information about the GPU Ampere long in advance), now writes that the release will be before the end of the third quarter. Although it is still to occur in the third quarter, but sometimes at the beginning.

Since August / August would be more of a means, this could mean that the cards will come out already in July. Although probably not even the beginning of the following month might not be ruled out. As a result, their release would be very close, we would basically count down the weeks.

There is probably a certain possibility that we are talking about a paper revelation of the architecture, and Nvidia would then start selling the cards for up to 2-4 weeks, for example. In any case, the GeForce RTX 4000 will be on the market sooner than expected. And so they will have an edge over competing graphics in the release. AMD’s Rade 7000 RX 7000 is expected to be released in September (it’s probably possible that it would only need a paper unveiling with an October release, but probably not graphics sooner).

At this time, however, AMD will first release only mainstream graphics with performance at the level of today’s Radeon RX 6900 XT (however, they will probably only have 128-bit memory and probably 8GB capacity). More powerful high-end models will be released a little later (perhaps in the fourth quarter?). Nvidia will release the first high-end GeForce RTX 4000.

GPUs with Ada / Lovelace architecture are manufactured using 5nm TSMC technology, or perhaps rather 4nm (this is a derivative of 5nm N5 technology and Nvidia could probably have a modified process variant again). as with the Compute GPU Hopper). As expected, the cards will probably be marked GeForce RTX 4000, but so far this has not been fully confirmed, so any deviation from the established marking is not excluded. These graphics should bring a drastic increase in gaming performance – for the highest models it could be doubled, and maybe more (a similarly high intergenerational shift is expected in the competition, so it will probably be a matter for the market).

Unfortunately, this is supposed to be associated with very high consumption – the most powerful model that Nvidia is now to introduce should reportedly have a TDP of 600 W. Power supply will logically be using new 12VHPWR connectorwhich comes along with ATX 3.0 sources and PCI Express 5.0 (though the one Lovelace may not support it) and has to handle such inputs with a single cable, however, non – reference cards could probably have two of these cables.
