The GeForce RTX 3060 was originally introduced with an Etherea mining power limiter, but then drivers that did not contain the limitation leaked and NVIDIA could start over. This time, however, it took it from the ground up and prepared an LHR version of the entire spectrum of GeForce Ampere cards, perhaps except for the RTX 3090, which is said to be so little interesting for miners due to its high price. Players can hope that now no drivers will appear without a performance limiter.

Server Expreview got to the new LHR version of the GeForce RTX 3060 card, which already carries the GA106-302 chip. It is basically the same as the GA106-300, but it is its new PCI Device ID, which will make it impossible to use new cards with old drivers. This is specifically the ZOTAC RTX 3060 LHR Apocalypse GOC (Gaming OC) card, which was prepared exclusively for the Chinese market. –
In terms of synthetic and practical game tests, there is no difference between the new card and the old model with GA106-300, which was expected, but it’s good to have it confirmed.
But when it comes to etherea performance, it was possible that NVIDIA would make some changes, and they did. The original versions of GeForce RTX 3060 cards are starting to benefit from Ethereum at full power, and it is only after a few minutes that the restriction is activated and the hashrate drops by about half. However, the new versions will immediately start benefiting with reduced power, between 20 and 22 MH / s at 120W consumption.

Of course, it will still be possible to fine-tune performance and consumption by adjusting the clock and power limit, but they did not address this at Expreview. At the same time, the limiter reduces the performance of the RTX 3060 LHR to the same level as in the original version, and it will not be known yet whether it is only Etherea mining or other cryptocurrencies, but it is not possible to bet on expansion in this respect.
