This set was equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X processor connected to AIO water cooling and an MSI RTX 2070 SUPER graphics card from the Gaming series. The processor, protected in the middle of the case by a plate on one side and a water block on the other (the processor is already removed from the socket in the picture), but the graphics card got properly engaged, as shown by its significantly deformed part of the heatsink. Of course, this also protected the PCB to some extent, as did the sheet metal on the opposite side. But the memory, the source and even the motherboard could not be revived.
–
After removing the heatsink and cleaning, however, the PCB of the graphics card did not look exactly bad, perhaps except for the visibly smoked part of the video interfaces, where the heat hit the card the most according to the condition of the heatsink, after all thermal cool did not add.
–
Of all the video connectors, one DisplayPort looked the best, which Der8auer connected and cooled the GPU with memories with a block for liquid nitrogen.
And as we already know, the card was put into operation again, although it is probably not possible to bet on its further long life, because who knows how very high temperatures have damaged, for example, power supply circuits with capacitors. However, the author did not perform proper stress tests, which may be published sometime later, after all, he operated the card only temporarily, when he himself had to hold a heatsink on the GPU and memories and had none to replace the original heavily destroyed heatsink.
This experiment was carried out with the help of the German seller Caseking, who came up with the marketing program Kill My Case, in which an old neglected PC is being improved or directly restored. Thanks to that Der8auer also got this setwho went through the fire of the apartment. –
