In World Health Organization condemned the widespread use of booster doses and vaccination of children against coronavirus. It makes no sense to give a third shot to healthy people when in some poor countries the population has not even received one shot.
About this on briefing said the director general of WHO Tedros Adanom Gebreyesus… He stressed that every day six times more booster shots are given worldwide than the first shots in low-income countries.
“There is no point in administering booster doses (from coronavirus – ed.) To healthy adults or vaccinating children when health workers, the elderly and other groups are still waiting for their first dose,” he stressed.
Gebreyesus considers this situation a scandal and it should be stopped immediately as additional doses of coronavirus vaccine are needed only people with weakened immunity.
The WHO Director General recalled that two countries in the world – Eritrea and North Korea have not yet started coronavirus vaccinations.
We will remind, earlier in the Ukrainian Ministry of Health reported that so far do not consider the introduction of a booster dose vaccines against coronavirus for all interested Ukrainians. Over the next few weeks, the department will host an expert debate on this issue. The department noted that they are wary of the introduction of both booster and revaccinal doses of COVID vaccines.
In turn, the chief infectious disease specialist of the Ministry of Health Olga Golubovskaya explained that the booster or additional third dose of the COVID-19 coronavirus vaccine is necessary only for those people who have an immunodeficiency, namely a weak production of antibodies. For healthy people, there is no reliable data on the benefits of booster vaccination.
As reported OBOZREVATEL, the chief sanitary doctor Igor Kuzin said that the Ukrainians will recommend a third shot (booster dose) against coronavirus after receiving the two main ones. In particular, people with a weak immune response to the standard course of vaccination.
