Gebrev in front of SPIEGEL: We kept old ammunition in Varbetice, they were not for sale

Bulgarian arms dealer Emilian Gebrev claims that his company EMCO stored old ammunition from the Warsaw Pact in warehouses in the Czech village of Varbetice that was not for sale. Gebrev said this in an interview published yesterday for the German magazine SPIEGEL, TASS reported.

“Our company, like many other companies, rented warehouses in Varbetice. We stored there old ammunition from the time of the Warsaw Pact, which we had acquired in the Czech Republic,” said the entrepreneur, adding that they were not intended for sale.

On April 17, Czech authorities said Moscow was linked to explosions at ammunition depots in the eastern Czech village of Varbetice in 2014.

As a result of strained relations between Russia and the Czech Republic, the Czech authorities expelled 18 Russian diplomats and the Russian authorities expelled 20 employees of the Czech embassy in Moscow.

Some other European countries have also expelled Russian diplomats in solidarity with the Czech Republic, which has been included by Moscow in the list of hostile countries.
