A number of major players in the gaming industry had already canceled their arrival at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco due to the corona virus. Now the organizers are taking action.

Sony, Epic Games, Microsoft, Amazon – several sizes had canceled their previously agreed participation in GDC 2020 in mid-March. Reason: The health of the own employees is in the foreground and one does not want to expose them to unnecessary trips in view of the spreading corona virus. Activision and Blizzard Entertainment also jumped on the train at the weekend and expanded the illustrious group of customers. Now the organizers are taking action.
The organizers have now officially announced that the game event, which is actually planned for mid-March, will be canceled and postponed to a later date in summer 2020; a specific new date was not given at first, probably because summer is usually more and more populated with game fairs and more.
“After an in-depth consultation with our partners in the game development industry and the community around the world, we made the difficult decision to postpone the Game Developers Conference this March,” reads the corresponding statement.
Of course, they were disappointed and upset that the event could not be held as planned after all the preparations. We would like to thank all customers and partners who were available for open discussions and who expressed their support in this process. The details regarding the catch-up date should now be worked out promptly.
