After a bear market in October, the Grasshoppers are back on the road to promotion in the Challenge League. The Zurich team won the supplementary game of the 10th round against Neuchâtel Xamax 3-0.
Shkelqim Demhasaj before the break and the Irish Connor Ronan and Nikola Gjorgjev in stoppage time scored the goals in Letzigrund. Demhasaj benefited after 39 minutes from a failed tee shot by Laurent Walthert. Because of a yellow-red card against Igor Djuric, the guests from Neuchâtel played in the last ten minutes.
While the Grasshoppers have not been defeated for seven games and they celebrated five wins, Xamax continues to run unsuccessfully after its quarantine. The defeat at the record champions was the fifth in the fifth game since the forced break, the sixth in a row. With nine points and eight defeats, coach Stéphane Henchoz’s team is second to last after eleven games. Only Chiasso is worse off than the relegated.

Xamax owner Jeff Collet speaks clearly to his French-speaking colleagues from “blue Sports”: “How can we get out of this negative spiral? That is the job of Stéphane Henchoz. We lose game after game. ”
Will there be a change of coach now? “I think you already have the answer to your question. We lost eight out of eleven games, ”said Collet. “It is clear that things now have to move in the right direction.”
Asking Henchoz’s future would make little sense, says the Xamax owner. “Everyone knows that a coach who has lost eight out of eleven games is not sitting in a comfortable chair,” says Collet. The dismissal of the coach is likely to be imminent.
