GB, 2 officers indicted for the sexual assault of a woman

(ANSA) – LONDON, NOV 18 – Two Scotland Yard officers have been formally charged for the sexual assault of a woman in central London last April while they were off duty. They are Jerome Beasley, 41, and Luke Robinson, 39, both assigned to a unit in the west of the British capital, who are due to appear before Westminster Magistrates Court on Wednesday. The two officers are currently suspended and represent the latest two cases of officers from the UK’s largest police force to go to court for serious breaches of the law. They add to the many scandals that have hit the Met Police involving a string of crimes, including murder and rape, carried out by its men in uniform, as well as allegations of widespread racism, sexism and homophobia within the force. To remedy this serious situation, with the consequent loss of trust of Londoners, a vast crackdown against ‘bad apples’ was launched some time ago which has already led to the dismissal of dozens of officers.
